Today was a bad day. My laptop died; something inside it spluttered and decided that enough was enough and it just copped out. And now, nothing I do or say can bring it back, despite numerous, increasingly frantic calls to I.T.
So, after calming down, I realised it’s not such a biggy, as I get a nice new shiny Sony Vaio. That was until I realised my meticulously organised news reader, FeedDemon, went down with the ship. Arse.
What’s really gutting is that my hundreds and hundreds of feeds, built up over the course of many months, and linking to many, many great blogs, news sites and clever discoveries has also gone. No doubt there was some way to back it up which I didn’t know about, but the long and short of it is that I’ve got to start again from scratch.
In the world of Web 2.0, this is like my library burning down. And, disappointingly, from my non-online colleagues, I’m getting very little sympathy.
